HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Dear Gavin,
Happy birthday!
For the past couple of weeks I have been wondering
what I could do for your birthday.
I thought about the coupon I made
you for your last birthday here on earth.
Free dinner and dessert- made by me.
I wish you could cash that one in today.
I wish I could at least call you and tell you
how cool I think you are and thank you
for being such a beautiful part of my life.
The days I spent with you are definitely
numbered among the best of my life.
I miss you everyday.

PIPER JANE

Newspaper unicorn horn? Yes!
I love that her eyes are ALMOST crossed.
More pictures of my beautiful girl on my sister's blog.
I love love love her!
And Miles too.
MY SUNBEAMS
This week I was teaching the children about prayer.
I showed them a picture of Daniel in the Lions' Den and told them the story.
When I asked if they had ever heard the story before they all said no-
except for the liar, she said yes, but she lies about everything. HA!
Anyway, I decided it would be fun to act out the story.
I told the children I was Daniel.
One child was going to be the king and then rest were going to be lions.
I told them when I bow my head, fold my arms, and close my eyes to pray
they had to stop being lions and shut their mouths (Daniel 6:22).
I guess I was thinking the game would be like Red Light Green Light.
So as they came charging at me- growling, pawing, shrieking,
I folded my arms, bowed my head and closed my eyes...
Then I felt teeth sink into my leg!
They are insane!
In the best way possible.
Pictures taken last week when we traced our bodies and drew in our clothes and faces and hair and a very intricate road map for good measure.

Little Red Bike Cafe
Little Red Bike Cafe review on the food blog.
Erik Und Erin (German for: Erik and Erin)
If you live in or near Portland go eat there.
It is SOO good.
"...I was on cloud nine. If you have been watching the show The Bachelor then you have heard that term used a lot... They don't know what they are talking about. Cloud nine is not a hot tub full of 10 beautiful women who are desperate to marry you. It is a breakfast sandwich at Little Red Bike Cafe with your best friend."

BACK IN THE SADDLE
So I decided that I don't really want to start a new blog right now. In fact, all I really needed was a new header. I feel a lot better about everything now that I have that new header... and some new goals for the new year. One of which is to blog more for myself and worry less about who may or may not be reading it. For some reason I aspire to be some iconic blogger that revolutionizes the way we look at Julia Child... where did I get that idea? But I am just me.
So here is to becoming a better me, I'll start by publicly posting some new years resolutions that I just got around to resolving a few days ago.
1. Be the best primary teacher I can be. That means planning lessons and activities the day before (not rushing sunday morning). And thinking about what each child might need through out the coming months.
2. Drink more water. You have no idea how hard this one is for me.
3. Make more stuff for my etsy shop.
4. Stop swearing. Yes, I have a problem with swearing. I think it is funny. Bad words make me laugh my head off. Am I embarrassed? No, not really. But I know I should be.
5. Get a real job. (I resolve to work on this more towards the middle of this year after I have graduated). This however does entail that I do my best work while in school and start preparing myself now for job opportunities. Please see image 1.b for example of working hard on school projects. Designing cd and book covers complete with matching dust bag. bla!

Pray for Baby Gavin

If you know me well you know that about two years ago I lost a very close friend- Gavin. In his memory his sister named her new son after Gavin. Eight week old baby Gavin is now in critical condition at the intensive care unit in Salt Lake City. You can read what baby Gavin's mom is writing on her blog here. I think she is right. We all need to pray for a miracle tonight. Right now. Whenever we need one. And baby Gavin needs one. Pray. Even if you have never said a prayer before in your life.
