Happy Birthday Gavin!
Dear Gavin,Remember the night we put put packing tape all over our faces and told people we were burned victims and laughed and laughed and laughed? I don't think I have laughed that hard before in my whole life. But we also knew it was kinda sad because people really do have burns like that. I remember we both felt a little mean for laughing so hard. And remember the time you made me put my mattress on the roof of my house and I almost slid off in the night while I was sleeping? Remember how for my last birthday you gave me a necklace made of bright green yarn and on the end was a vile of your blood? and I wore it to church? I miss you Gavin.

I love that I forced Karly to stop watching her movie- in the middle of her favorite part no less- to take pictures of me carelessly dangling her shoes over the Pacific Ocean.
"What's with the red socks Jane?"
I just really like bunchy socks with dressy shoes.

Karly thinks a good way of avoiding responsibility is to tell people that she thought they were quoting a movie.

Dear Son,
No one likes a liar.
No one can resist a folk singer.
No one wants their heart broken
even if they claim they do.
No one gains what they already have.
No one worries about factoring binomials after high school-
but "word problems" are probably a good thing to remember
(example- a man sits down in a big fat chair and eats 12 bananas.
Then he eats 3 apples.
20 minutes earlier he ate his own hand.
What percent of the man's food is fruit,
and what percent is human flesh?)
No one gives something for nothing.
No one will be ungrateful for a mixed tape.
No one regrets jumping from high places, especially into water.
If you ever find yourself on a relatively high cliff
(let a few other people jump off before you)
but definitely
jump.
No one will blame you for letting others go first.
No one is in the wrong place at the wrong time
our lives do not deviate from a set path.

No one accomplishes their life's purpose in one day.

Remembering my Gramma
I found some of the pictures that my sister and I took at my grandmother's funeral this fall and thought about what a blessing families are.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
So I dfinitely had my doubts about this one. I ended up thinking it was one of the best movies I have seen in years! LOVED it!
